Midsummer Music Madness is a two-week music camp for students of all musical levels and abilities. Students are expected to attend BOTH weeks, and the camp concludes with a culminating recital of all they learn and accomplish over the two weeks. We teach classes in:
Violin - Viola - Cello - Guitar - Piano - Music Reading & Theory & Ensemble Performance for our more advanced students
When registering, students will select a primary instrument to learn, as well as two elective instruments. Instruments and class sizes are limited, so priority will be given on a first come-first serve basis. If the student’s first choice is no longer available, they will be scheduled for his or her 2nd choice, etc. Don’t delay!
Summer Camp Details
1.
Drop off and pick up
Drive-through drop-off and pick-up will take place on Lawton Dr. in front of Building #25 (Business Conference Center). A volunteer will be stationed roadside to direct students to the appropriate entrance and assist them in connecting with the next volunteer. Students may arrive between 8:40 and 8:55 a.m. If you arrive after 9:00 a.m., please park and walk your child to the second floor of Kaufman Hall (Building #30). At dismissal, please line up in the same area as morning drop-off—along Lawton Dr. near the intersection with Mickey Smith Jr. Dr., in front of Building #25 (Business Conference Center). Please do not block Ryan St. If the line becomes too long, please park and wait. A campus map is included at the end of this page.
2.
Snack Break
Students are asked to bring a snack and water each day of camp. We will not have access to any refrigeration or microwave for the snack break, so please keep that in mind while planning.
3.
Dress up days
We like to incorporate a few dress-up days to keep things fun and lively! While we encourage students to participate if they like, they are not required to dress up. This year we will have:
Tie-Dye Wednesday on June17th: Wear your favorite tie-dye items.
Throwback Friday on June 19th: Dress as a blast from the past! You decide how far back to go! Bonus if it is a musician from the past!
Musical Monday on June 22th: Dress as your favorite musician or represent your favorite musical band/genre.
Wacky Wednesday on June 24th: Be as wacky as you like - a little or a lot: hair, socks, clothes, etc. but remember that you will still have to be able to play your instruments!
We will wear our camp t-shirts on the last Friday for the concert.
4.
Concluding recital on the last day
We will conclude the camp by showcasing all that the students have learned and achieved over the two weeks by holding a short recital at 11:00 am on the last day, Friday, June 26th.
