Cost

  • $150 per student/semester

  • $25 discount for each student from the same family

  • We strive to keep to tuition very low to make music education affordable for all. We are happy to discuss payment plan options if you have a need.

  • All staff serves on a voluntary basis, except for the teaching staff and interns. Your tuition will go toward paying the teachers, purchasing music and materials and general operational expenses.

A semester calendar will be provided after registration which will show our start days, end days, holidays, concert date, etc.

Instruments

New families are asked NOT to purchase any instruments without first speaking to our staff.

Strings

  • For strings, we partner with SOLA Violins of Lafayette to provide high quality string rentals for our students. There are many benefits to renting an instrument instead of purchasing initially.

    • First, the quality of this rental instrument will be much better than an inexpensive online instrument, and a better instrument will produce better sound, less frustration and faster progression on the instrument.

    • Second, in order for students to be successful the instrument needs to fit the child properly. These rentals will be professionally fitted and adjusted to grow with your child.

    • Third, a large percentage of your rental fees apply toward the eventual purchase of an instrument when/if your child reaches full size or you know he/she is committed to continuing.

  • These instrument rentals cost an average of $25-$45 per month. A representative from SOLA Violins will be on campus prior to the start of the semester to fit each student and to set up the rental for your convenience. Once your register for FGBYO and confirm that you will need to rent an instrument, we will forward you their rental forms so they will be prepared to meet with your child at a scheduled time.

Guitars (classical, acoustic guitars with nylon strings) are rented directly through FGBYO for the cost of $40 per semester. Guitar students must have properly fitting guitars with nylon strings.

Returning students who have already rented or purchased their instrument can register at any time.

Returning students who need to meet with SOLA prior to the start of the semester to resize or purchase supplies can schedule while SOLA will be on campus.
